Rotterdam: Urban and residential development is moving fast in Europe’s largest port

Rotterdam is Europe's New York: Skyscrapers on the waterfront, located side by side with historic properties and a city plan that bears the mark of the city being almost newly built after World War II.Rotterdam was bombed during the war. Rotterdam is Europe's largest port, which is why many of the latest projects are located around the port area: innovative housing projects in disused industrial buildings and recreational areas. • Visit to a world-famous design studio behind two of the city's landmarks. Introduction to their international projects  - and a tour to their latest project for an art storage / depot - award winning - with a roof top forest.

• Transformation by the harbour, MIPIM Award 2018: Innovative housing complex with approx. 300 apartments. The design studio has taken the role as both developer and designer. Each apartment is individually designed in close collaboration with each resident. Meet the developer / architect studio behind. 

• MVRDV - Landmark project; Visit in a private apartment in a residential complex of the design studio.

Amsterdam: A laboratory for new forms of housing and urban development

 

​Intense urban development is taking place in historic Amsterdam, for example, from the transformation of old harbor areas into residential areas. New climate-neutral districts are emerging on bare fields, including entire districts with floating homes.​
