Historic Vienna has undergone an amazing development over the past 10 years. The city is a pioneer for new sustainable city planning and housing development while concurrently investing in projects by star architects such as Zaha Hadid and Jean Nouvel.

 

Vienna ranks as a top score when it comes to liveability. It is friendly and functional/efficient as well as innovative, especially in regard to transportation, climate solutions and digitisation - see City of Vienna.

  • Visits to public schools and a new university campus for business students

  • Urban gardens: Visit a community garden with a training institution for urban agriculture

  • Infrastructure: New train station: Integration of modern technology in public transport via an app, where everything is integrated, including a navigation system for bike paths covering 1,379 kilometres.

  • Urban development in Aspern Seestadt: visit to one of Europe’s biggest urban development areas (with 20,000 residents), main topic: infrastructure, from easy access to train station, airport and the historic centre.

  • New urban area, focus on organic products and social responsibility.

  • Insight into historic Vienna: the buildings of Otto Wagner and Adolf Loos; visits to elegant cafés – and to iconic locations for Art Deco and Art Nouveau (optional).
