Växjö
50% of future buildings must be built in wood
Växjö spearheaded the development of wood/CLT constructions in Sweden 7-8 years ago. You will learn how the wood industry, housing companies, developers, architects and engineers work closely together.
Join us and visit a variety of housing complexes, from highrise to semi detached housing. Some projects are mixed use student housing, kindergarden and social housing. The swedish way of working with wooden solution is large scale: you explore neighbourhoods all in various types of wood/CLT, from facades to construction.
Highlights:
-
Visit to a CLT production facility, a cooperative, owned by the forest owners.
-
Guided tour in the largest largest social housing complex in Wood/CLT in Sweden, 200 apartments.
-
Visit to a construction site: You will learn about the efficient construction proces and building tecniques.
-
Presentation at the Department of Forest and Technology at Linnaeus University on the economic and environmental savings of building in wood / CLT. Learn why and how the load-bearing structures and walls in CLT are crucial, when it comes to reducing CO2 emission.
-
Visit to a local design studio specialised in wooden housing. Presentation on challenges, when working with wood/CLT, for example in relation to suppliers and partners (versus building in steel, concrete, brick, etc.).
-
The most important data on the user perspectives: What are the benefits of living in a wooden house? How does wood/CLT affect the employees at the construction site, on a practical level and mentally?
-
How do you make a political vision about building in wood possible? Presentation by Växjö Kommunforetag AB.
